At Preloved Auctions, you can source quality pre-owned stock specifically suited for resale.

Getting started is simple.
Register as a buyer, browse our live online auctions, and place your maximum bid on any lots you wish to purchase. A transparent 27% buyer’s premium is added to the final hammer price.

Our auction system uses automatic proxy bidding, meaning it will bid on your behalf up to your chosen maximum—ensuring you stay competitive without needing to monitor the auction constantly.

If you are the winning bidder, payment is made securely through our website. You may then:

  • Collect your lots directly from us, or

  • Arrange your own courier at no charge, or

  • Use our competitively priced delivery options for added convenience.

Below you’ll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about how Preloved Auctions works, to help you buy with confidence.

Do I need an account to bid?

Yes – all bidders must create a free account on Prelovedauctions.co.uk and agree to our Terms & Conditions.

How are items described? Can I view them in person?

All lots are photographed clearly, and we try to document any issues, wear or notable features within the listing. Please review all images and descriptions carefully before bidding as lots are sold as seen.

Are items tested or guaranteed?

Item condition varies depending on the lot. Sometimes PAT tests and/or power tests are completed on electricals which will be noted in the lot description. Unless stated otherwise, items are sold as-seen with no guarantees, in line with standard auction practice.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept debit and credit cards and all other payment types available through Stripe Secure Payments.
Currently cash or bank transfer payments are not accepted.

How long do I have to pay my invoice?

Buyers have 7 days from the end of the auction to make payment securely via our website / email invoices using secure payments provider Stripe. 

Late payments follow the conditions set out in our Terms & Conditions unless otherwise agreed.

When will I receive my invoice?

Lot won emails are sent out automatically and provide payment details and payment links. Invoices are emailed after the auction closes. All invoices are sent via email only.

Can I retract a bid?

No, bids cannot be retracted once placed. 

Does Preloved Auctions use automatic (proxy) bidding?

Yes. You can set your maximum bid and the system will bid on your behalf up to that limit.

Do auctions extend if a bid comes in at the last moment?

Yes. To prevent sniping, auctions extend if a bid is placed in the final moments.

What fees apply to buyers?

A 27% buyer’s premium is added to the hammer price.
No additional fees apply unless stated in the individual lot description.

How long do I have to collect my items?

Buyers have 7 days to collect their items after payment – delivery services are available.

Do you offer delivery?

Preloved Auctions provides an in-house packing and shipping service for most items sold through our auctions.

Our minimum UK Postage charge is £4.95 for up to 1 Kg (+ £1 per extra 1kg).

Some large items may cost more (this will be noted in the auction lot details).

Shipping fees reflect postage costs, packaging materials, and the time required to prepare your parcel, and we always aim to keep these charges as reasonable as possible. You are welcome to request a quote with no obligation, and you may choose to arrange your own courier or similar services.

Postage must be arranged and paid for within 7 days of the auction ending. Shipments are dispatched as soon as possible.

For all international shipping enquiries, please contact us before placing a bid.

Feel free to arrange your own courier or collection – just let us know your plans.

If you intend to collect your items in person, this can be arranged from our Offices based in Staffordshire (Midlands), please contact us beforehand to book a suitable date and time so we can ensure your lots are ready for you.

If I hire my own courier, do I need to notify you first?

Yes, please let us know in advance if a courier will be collecting your items.
The courier does not need to provide ID.

What happens if I don’t collect within 7 days?

Storage fees may apply as detailed in our Terms & Conditions.
Uncollected items may be re-listed where necessary.

Can I return items or request a refund?

No. All sales are final and sold as-seen, in line with traditional auction house rules.

I would like to sell through Preloved Auctions - how do I start?

Currently Preloved Auctions works with approved partners such as charities, retailers, resellers, house clearance companies and reuse organisations.

Is there a minimum age to bid?

Yes. You must be 18 or over to register and bid.

How will I know if I’ve won a lot?

Winners receive an email notification as soon as the auction ends.

Can I bid from multiple devices?

Yes. You can bid from any device as long as you’re logged in to your account.

What happens if there’s an issue with my order?

If something is missing, damaged in transit or incorrect, please email our support team within 48 hours.
While auction sales are final, we will always help resolve genuine errors.
